 Research Project

You are required to carry out an online research project on the topic of Internet security. The following topics should all be examined:

Computer Viruses - definition, means of transmission and steps users should take to avoid infection.

Spyware and Spam  – Definitions and appropriate actions to minimise negative affects.

 Filtering Software – Protecting users from accessing, unwittingly or otherwise, inappropriate material on the Internet.

 Personal Privacy and Phising – The importance of personal privacy on the Internet

 Firewalls – their role in protecting computers from unsolicited material.

 Encryption and secure e-commerce transactions  - how information e.g. credit card details may be transmitted over the Internet

Your completed report should include summary definitions on four of the above topics, the remaining two should be researched for a more detailed report.
