The Hills are Alive........

This years Transition Years are doing the Musical “The Sound of Music”. This Musical is about the Vontrap’s family who there is seven children and there father is very strict. But a governess comes from the nun’s convent and brings music back into their lives. At first their captain doesn’t like it but eventually he grows to like the music and the governess Maria. It ends with Maria and the captain living happily ever after with their seven children. The main characters in this musical are Maria and Captain Trap. The people who are acting as them are Ann Marie Clarke as Maria and James O Toole as Captain Trap.

However this year’s musical is not on at its usual dates. It usually is on before Christmas in the month of December. However this year’s musical is on in February the 8^{th, 9th} and 10^th. However on the 8^th this is only the matinee for National Schools around the area.

In my opinion the musical in Portumna Community School is a big part of Transition Year. It gives students a clear insight of what doing a musical is all about. Students also have a lot of fun in preparing the musical.
